* Citing a lack of demand from investors and with a promise to come back, Aviva Investors canceled Aviva Investors Secure Income REIT's IPO in London. The diversified REIT's planned float was unveiled in November, and it was targeting to raise between £200 million and £250 million.
* On the other hand, Aberdeen Standard European Logistics Income plc grossed £187.5 million from listing on the London stock exchange. Trading in the logistics investment trust's shares is expected to commence Dec. 15.
* Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC is looking at a €550 million payday, having agreed to sell a hotel in Paris to Henderson Park. The Westin Paris-Vendome has 428 rooms and will be the investment platform's second hotel in the French capital.
UK and Ireland
* Empiric Student Property Plc is considering a sale of the company, with Property Week quoting a source as saying that its CEO's recent termination was part of the board's way of addressing the group's recent poor performance. The source added that an assets sale would likely be the company's next step, followed by the sale of the business in its entirety. Greystar, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and a joint venture between GIC and Global Student Accommodation were named by the publication as potential buyers of the company.
* Still in the student accommodations space, Urbanest, IQ, Greystar, and a joint venture between Europa Capital and Generation Estates are tipped to be in the running to buy LetterOne's portfolio of 11 buildings spread across the U.K. PW reported, citing an unnamed source. Offers for the properties are reportedly in the £820 million to £850 million range.
* Pandox AB is set to add 37 hotel businesses in its British and Irish portfolio for £800 million. The company bought the hotel properties from a company owned by Lone Star.
* Shortly after publishing the indicative results for its cash tender offer for two series of notes, British Land Co. Plc announced the final count and the pricing for the offers.
For the 5.0055% bonds due 2035, the company received and is accepting for tender £1.6 million of the outstanding £97.4 million at a final redemption price of 124.046% of the nominal amount.
For the 5.357% bonds due 2028, British Land received and is accepting for tender £82.5 million of the outstanding £300.2 million at a final price of 125.173% of the nominal amount.
* Carol Fairweather will assume the role of independent nonexecutive director at SEGRO Plc from Jan. 1, 2018.
The appointee served as the CFO of Burberry Group Plc from 2013 to 2017.
* A local developer filed the planning application for a 215-apartment development in Leeds, U.K., as part of the Holbeck Urban Village. CoStar U.K. reported that Oakapple Group's project will have 10 stories and a basement carpark.
* Regional Office Property Unit Trust signed a sale-and-leaseback deal to buy a 61,000-square-foot office building in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. The Quorum will be sold to the Schroder Real Estate-managed fund for £22.7 million, according to CoStar U.K.
* The U.K. property investment market in 2017 was "surprised on the upside," according to CBRE, with investment volumes in the full year expected to continue through 2018. CBRE also forecasts total returns in the sector to be about 4% in the incoming year.
Also according to CBRE's 2018 Market Outlook, the region's office, retail, pubs and leisure subsectors are expected to face issues, while the industrial and logistics market's stellar performance in 2017 will continue in 2018.
* The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors also offered its 2018 forecast for the residential market of the U.K., saying indicators suggest "little immediate" change in the sector.
Middle East
* Emaar Malls PJSC appointed director Mohammed Hadi Ahmed Al Hussaini as chairman, replacing Mohamed Ali Alabbar, who will retain his seat on the board.
France
* Unibail-Rodamco SE received an A2 first-time long-term issuer rating from Moody's, as the rating agency expects the company's planned acquisition of Westfield Corp. to gives its business profile a boost.
Meanwhile, the industry is still abuzz with the French company's US$16.78 billion bid to buy Westfield, two days after the deal was announced. The Wall Street Journal relates the merger to the changes in the retail market, noting that Europe has not been as affected by the booming e-commerce industry as the U.S., while JPMorgan analysts were quoted by The Australian Financial Review as saying there is a chance, albeit unlikely, that Unibail will face off with Simon Property Group Inc. for Westfield.
Germany
* WeWork Cos. is taking up over 8,000 square meters of the 26,000 square meters of office space at Hines' OSKAR building in Munich. It is the shared-offices provider's first in the city and fourth in the country.
* PATRIZIA Immobilien AG completed the forward purchase of a 102-room care home development in Bad Camberg from a K&S Group subsidiary.
Italy
* The Concepto real estate fund bought for roughly €115 million the Milan headquarters of Deloitte from SIGNA Funds. BNP Paribas REIM noted the building offers nearly 28,000 square meters of office space and is fully occupied.
* Barings Real Estate Advisers, through its European Core Property Fund Italy fund, acquired the 28,000-square-meter Parco Fiore retail park for an undisclosed amount in an off-market deal with a local company, IPE Real Assets reported.
Nordic region
* Peak Asset Management Co-Founder Per Djerf told Bloomberg News in an interview that his firm is already looking for "the next interesting sector in the Nordics" as the Swedish housing market continues to show signs of a crash.
Djerf, who is also the chief investment officer at the Stockholm-based hedge fund manager, added that Swedish developers are under pressure now, since home prices have started falling.
