Italy retail trade falls unexpectedly in July

The seasonally adjusted value of retail trade in Italy fell further by 0.1% month over month in July after dropping in June.

The value of retail trade was expected to increase by 0.2% in July, according to Econoday's consensus estimate.

Retail trade was down 0.2% in volume terms in July, the country's National Institute of Statistics said.

On a seasonally unadjusted year-over-year basis, the value of retail trade decreased by 0.6% and quantity sold contracted by 1.8%.
