CA, Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2016, came to 43 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 61 cents per share.
EPS increased 5.0% year over year from 41 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $180.0 million, a gain from $174.4 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 17.9% from 16.9% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue declined on an annual basis to $1.01 billion from $1.03 billion, and total operating expenses decreased year over year to $716.0 million from $740.0 million.
Reported net income fell 5.4% on an annual basis to $207.0 million, or 50 cents per share, from $218.9 million, or 52 cents per share.
