Sky adding STV's VOD service, regional channels to Scottish offer

Sky Ltd., formerly Sky PLC, is expanding its offer for Scottish customers with the addition of STV Player, the video-on-demand service owned by broadcaster STV Group PLC.

Under a new five-year deal, Sky said Jan. 7 that it will also add STV's four regional variants in HD to its Scottish line-up.

Sky's Scottish users will be able to watch STV's regional channels starting in the first half of 2019, while STV Player will be accessible on set-top boxes from the second half.

The British pay TV giant, owned by Comcast Corp., earlier made STV Player available on its video-streaming platform NOW TV.
