Italian exports, imports decline in June

Italian exports declined 1.0% in June from the previous month after seasonal adjustment and imports tumbled 2.9% over the same period, the National Institute for Statistics reported.

In the 12 months ended June, exports rose 8.2% and imports climbed 9.9%, respectively, compared with 13.1% and 17.5% increases, respectively, in May.

Exports to EU countries slid 0.5% in June and imports declined 1.3% during the month.

The total import price index fell by 0.5% in June month over month. In annual terms, the index increased 1.7%.

The index dropped 0.6% in the three months to June over the preceding quarter, the statistical agency said.
