Nexa Resources SA was granted the installation license for its Aripuana zinc project in Brazil and expects an operating license by the end of 2020.
The company said Dec. 20 that it will immediately start construction and expects Aripuana to be operational by the start of 2021.
Total investment is estimated at about US$392 million, of which 35% will be invested in 2019, 49% in 2020 and the remaining in 2021.
Based on the significant current inferred mineral resources, the mine life can be potentially extended by up to six years, the company said.
Nexa General Manager Ricardo Porto said in mid-September that the company plans to invest about US$1.17 billion in copper and zinc projects in Peru and Brazil over the next five years.
