Japan private-sector core machinery orders up 8.2% in January

Japan's private-sector core machinery orders increased 8.2% month over month in January on a seasonally adjusted basis, after declining 11.9% in December 2017, data from the Cabinet Office showed.

Core orders, which exclude orders for ships and those from electric power companies, increased 2.9% in January from December 2017.

The total value of machinery orders received by 280 manufacturers operating in Japan increased by 4.5% in January from the previous month on a seasonally adjusted basis.
