Black Hills Energy to provide $16.6M in federal tax benefit to SD customers

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission approved a settlement agreement, allowing Black Hills Energy to pass on $16.6 millio in federal tax savings to its customers in the state.

The Black Hills Corp. utility will provide an aggregate tax reform benefit of $7.7 million in 2018 in the form of a one-time credit to their October bills. In 2019, customers will receive an aggregate reduction in base rates of $8.9 million, according to a Sept. 5 news release.

Black Hills Corp.So far in 2018, Black Hills has received regulatory approvals to pass on approximately $26.6 million in tax benefits to its customers in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota, including the upcoming one-time credit.
