French industrial output shrinks in June

French industrial output fell 1.1% in June in monthly terms, compared to a 1.9% increase in May, National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies data showed.

In annual terms, output rose 1.9%, while quarterly output in the three months to June was up 1.2% over the previous quarter, down from a 1.4% growth rate from January to March.

Manufacturing industry output fell 0.9% in June month over month, compared to 2.0% growth the month before. Second-quarter manufacturing sector output increased by 1.3%, compared to 1.9% in the first quarter. In annual terms, second-quarter growth was 2.4%.

Monthly output shrank in machinery and equipment, mining and quarrying, energy, water supply, food and beverage manufacturing and in manufacture of transport equipment, partially offset by 0.2% growth in other manufacturing and a 4.4% increase in manufacturing of coke and refined petroleum products.
