China will administer its fourth national economic census in 2018 to give the government a clear picture of the economy and facilitate economic planning, Xinhua reported Dec. 9.
The census will cover all companies in the manufacturing, construction and services sector. Pertinent data will include: Ownership, salaries, production capacity, financial status, energy consumption, research and development, IT and e-commerce.
The survey will cover business activities in 2018.
Companies are forbidden to falsify or delay reports, conceal information or refuse to submit data, Xinhua said.
After China's last census, the government revised upward the economy's size by 3.4% in 2013 to show a higher contribution from the services sector, Reuters reported.
