State Farm raises Illinois auto rates by 5.8% average

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. hiked auto rates in Illinois by an average of 5.8% effective Oct. 31, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

The rate increase represents the company's largest in 14 years, the news outlet said.

State Farm and its competitors have recently experienced higher losses from physical auto damage relative to expenses.
