Report: Amazon connects investors, startup companies in new pilot program

Amazon.com Inc. is testing a new pilot program that links private investors to companies that use its Amazon Web Services Inc. as well as venture funds whose portfolios are filled with potential cloud customers, CNBC reported March 15.

Amazon is not investing directly in the initiative, called the Amazon Web Services Pro-Rata Program. The program targets specific companies and funds raising capital and seeks to connect them with potential investors, CNBC reported, citing an email from the company to investors.

AWS listed three companies and four firms that were raising funds through the program, according to the email sent to investors in January. The three companies were supersonic jet maker Boom, health products maker Roman and analytics company FreightWaves.
