Greenland plans to expand global footprint of hospitality business

Greenland Holdings Corp. Ltd. is embarking on a plan to expand the global footprint of its hospitality arm, Greenland International Hotels Group, to double the number of its hotels under management to 200 by 2020.

Citing Greenland International Hotels General Manager Raymond Lee, the South China Morning Post reported Feb. 6 that the hotel subsidiary is on track to expand its hotel management business, and it is hoping to take advantage of the opportunities that will be brought about by the Chinese government's Belt and Road initiative.

Lee said China's strategy, which will revive the country's trade routes over land and sea channels with 65 countries, is opening up lots of opportunities, such as securing some deals outside of Asia in 2018, for the company. The executive also told the paper that exporting the company's luxury brand, Primus, to overseas markets is on the cards, with three to four deals outside of China expected to be sealed within 2018.

Greenland International Hotels also plans to grow its portfolio to include 10 brands across different segments in the hotel sector. Aside from Primus, it also owns the Q Hotel and Qube Hotel brands.
