General merchandise retailer Target Corp. has voluntarily recalled about 7,500 Room Essentials-branded leather pouf ottomans, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on its website. The commission said that zippers on the ottomans can be opened and children can suffocate or choke on the pouf's polystyrene beads.
Target issued the recall Oct. 17. The pouf, made in China, was sold at Target stores in the United States and online from June through August for about $35. The commission said no incidents have been reported. It said consumers should stop using the product and return it to any of the Target stores for a full refund.
