American Water acquires water, wastewater systems in Missouri

Missouri American Water Co. completed the acquisition of the water and wastewater systems of the city of Lawson, Mo., for $4 million.

The deal adds 968 water customers and 913 sewer customers to the more than 480,000 statewide customers of Missouri American Water. All new customers will receive their first statement from the American Water Works Co. Inc. subsidiary during the first week of October and will be charged with the existing rates, the company said Aug. 31.
