B. Riley board approves special dividend

B. Riley Financial Inc.'s board approved a special dividend of 8 cents per share and a regular quarterly dividend of 8 cents per share.

The dividends are payable on or about April 3 to shareholders of record as of March 20.

Additionally, B. Riley disclosed a net loss attributable to the company of $6.1 million, or a loss of 23 cents per share, in the fourth quarter of 2017, compared with net income attributable to the company of $12.4 million, or 64 cents per share, in the year-ago period.

Adjusted net income attributable to the company was $11.6 million, or 44 cents per share, down from $14.8 million, or 76 cents per share, in the final three months of 2016.

B. Riley reported net income attributable to the company of $11.6 million, or 48 cents per share, for full year 2017, compared with $21.5 million, or $1.17 per share, in 2016.

Adjusted net income attributable to the company was $38.5 million, or $1.59 per share, up from $27.7 million, or $1.51 per share, in 2016.
