Pretium approved for production rate increase at Brucejack gold mine

Pretium Resources Inc. said Dec. 14 that it will increase the production rate of its Brucejack mine in British Columbia to 3,800 tonnes per day, after it received amended permits from the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy.

Annual production will rise from 990,000 tonnes to 1.4 million tonnes due to the amended permits. Minor mill upgrades, which are projected to cost less than C$25 million, are needed to support the production rate increase and will be completed during scheduled mill shutdowns.

The timeline for the ramp-up and an updated mine plan are expected in the first quarter of 2019.

Pretium produced 92,641 ounces of gold from Brucejack in the third quarter, from 82,203 ounces in the prior year.
