Korean regulator orders Amorepacific to recall 6 makeup products

The South Korea Ministry of Food and Drug Safety ordered cosmetics company Amorepacific Group to recall and halt the sale of six of its makeup products after they were found to contain high levels of a heavy metal substance, Yonhap News Agency reported March 20.

The regulator reportedly found 13 items made from a local manufacturer with antimony levels higher than the permissible amount. Six of the items were from two Amorepacific brands: four concealers under Aritaum and one concealer and one eyebrow pencil from Etude House, the report said.

The company is retrieving the products from stores, the newswire added.

In a statement, the company apologized and expressed remorse about the findings, Yonhap said.
