Twitter adopts new strategy to deal with 'trolls'

Twitter Inc. unveiled a new strategy to deal with "trolls" who violate the company's policies or distort the public conversation.

In a May 15 blog post, Twitter executives Del Harvey and David Gasca said the company's strategy now comprises new policies, human review processes and machine learning to identify and take action against accounts or limit their visibility.

The new approach has resulted in a 4% drop in abuse reports from search and 8% fewer abuse reports from conversations, Harvey and Gasca noted in the blog post.

Earlier this month, Twitter asked users to change their passwords after discovering a bug that stored passwords unmasked in an internal log.
