Ørsted completes 20-MW battery storage project in UK

Ørsted A/S completed its 20-MW Carnegie Road energy storage project in Liverpool, England.

The Danish company described Carnegie Road as its "first stand-alone, large-scale battery energy storage project," according to a Jan. 2 release.

The project consists of three containers and an associated power conversion system. The project will support the U.K. grid by providing a flexible response to grid needs.

"The combination of storage and renewable energy means we can now deliver infrastructure that enhances grid operations and ultimately delivers much better value for us as consumers," said Bridgit Hartland-Johnson, who is part of Ørsted's new onshore business unit and works to develop new energy storage projects in the U.K.
