NV Energy becomes sole owner of Nev. combined-cycle facility

A Berkshire Hathaway Energy subsidiary has become the sole owner of the 520-MW summer rating Silverhawk combined-cycle facility after closing its acquisition of the remaining ownership stake in the natural gas-fired plant.

Under the transaction, Nevada Power Co. d/b/a NV Energy Inc. paid $77 million to acquire a 25% stake in the Clark County, Nev.-based facility from Southern Nevada Water Authority. The parties closed the deal April 1, according to an April 5 FERC filing.

FERC approved the transaction Aug. 4, 2016. (FERC docket EC16-109)
