Nu Skin Enterprises Q1 profit falls 36.4% YOY

Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. said its normalized net income for the first quarter amounted to 69 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 73 cents per share.

EPS decreased 35.4% year over year from $1.07.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $41.6 million, a decrease of 36.4% from $65.4 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 7.7% from 9.8% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue fell 19.0% on an annual basis to $543.3 million from $671.1 million, and total operating expenses declined 16.7% on an annual basis to $474.7 million from $569.9 million.

Reported net income decreased 34.4% on an annual basis to $36.2 million, or 60 cents per share, from $55.1 million, or 90 cents per share.
