The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission allowed Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. LLC to stop providing firm natural gas transportation service to UGI Central Penn Gas Inc. as of July 31, as requested by the utility.
FERC granted the authorization in a Feb. 1 order after the Williams Partners LP-affiliated company asked for permission to abandon service to Central Penn in a November 2017 request. No protests challenged the request.
Transco provides up to 3,763 Dth/d of gas transportation from receipt points in its zones 1, 2 and 3 to Central Penn's delivery point in Zone 6 under an August 1991 service agreement with the gas utility. The primary term of the contract ended in July 2016, but service continues under an evergreen provision. Transco told FERC that the utility had informed the pipeline company that it wanted to terminate the agreement as of July 31. (FERC docket CP18-19)
