Amazon.com Inc. on May 16 unveiled plans to open its fifth fulfillment center in Arizona.
The facility will be its first fulfillment center in Tucson, Ariz., and will have a total area of more than 855,000 square feet. The U.S. e-commerce giant expects the new facility to generate more than 1,500 full-time jobs.
Amazon added that employees at the new facility will pick, pack and ship small items like books, electronics, household products and toys to customers.
The company employs more than 7,000 full-time associates at its four existing fulfillment centers and other facilities across Arizona.
