Cambium Learning Q1 loss narrows YOY

Cambium Learning Group Inc. said its first-quarter normalized net income came to a loss of $112,500, compared with a loss of $1.5 million in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis.

The normalized profit margin increased to negative 0.3% from negative 4.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 7.0% year over year to $33.7 million from $31.5 million, and total operating expenses climbed 5.6% year over year to $32.1 million from $30.4 million.

Reported net income came to a loss of $102,000, or a loss of 0 cents per share, compared to a loss of $2.3 million, or a loss of 5 cents per share, in the prior-year period.
