Austria's OMV AG, Italy's Snam SpA and Austria's Trans Austria Gasleitung GmbH signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly explore liquefied natural gas opportunities in Austria, which includes the potential construction of a small-scale LNG plant.
The opportunities include an LNG supply agreement and the development of an LNG market, according to a Sept. 24 news release from OMV.
OMV CEO Rainer Seele said the move comes in response to expected higher demand for LNG, including a projected surge in LNG-fueled trucks by 2030.
For Snam, CEO Marco Alverà said the opportunities could strengthen its compressed natural gas and LNG network for both cars and trucks.
