Swiss investor Jacobs to buy North American Dental Group

Zurich-based investment firm Jacobs Holding AG agreed to purchase North American Dental Group for an undisclosed sum.

The sellers are private equity firms ABRY Partners LLC and Riverside Partners LLC, or The Riverside Co., along with co-founders Ken Cooper and Andrew Matta. The founding partners and North American Dental Group's, or NADG's, dentist partners will maintain a significant equity interest once the deal closes, expected in the third quarter.

The investment in NADG substantially expands Jacobs' dental care footprint and forms the first transatlantic dental group, according to a release. Pennsylvania-based NADG will complement European dental care provider Colosseum Dental Group AS, in which Jacobs owns a majority stake. The two dental groups will have more than $900 million in combined annual revenues and roughly 450 practices.

NADG has a network of more than 200 dental practices that operate under regional and local brands across 11 U.S. states and 23 regional markets. The group said it plans to continue expanding its presence in North America under the new partnership with Jacobs.

Jefferies LLC was the exclusive financial adviser to NADG through its global retail healthcare franchise.
