Teck Resources Ltd. cut its sales guidance on steelmaking coal for the first quarter to approximately 6 million tonnes from the previous range of between 6.3 million and 6.5 million tonnes.
The revised guidance stems from issues at its Elkview operations in British Columbia and logistical problems at the Westshore Terminals, which are hitting sales.
Teck anticipated a production loss of about 200,000 tonnes of steelmaking coal from Elkview as of late January, after it suspended the coal dryer.
The company said March 9 that the coal dryer was recommissioned after completing repairs and commercial production is expected to resume the week of March 12.
Teck did not break out the first-quarter impact of slow sales at Westshore Terminals.
