Grupo Lala Q1 profit climbs 19.2% YOY

Grupo Lala SAB de CV said its first-quarter normalized net income amounted to 34 Mexican centavos per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 34 centavos per share.

EPS increased 19.6% year over year from 29 centavos.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 847.8 million pesos, an increase of 19.2% from 711.5 million pesos in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 7.3% from 6.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew year over year to 11.63 billion pesos from 11.11 billion pesos, and total operating expenses rose year over year to 10.26 billion pesos from 10.04 billion pesos.

Reported net income increased 18.3% year over year to 934.1 million pesos, or 38 centavos per share, from 789.7 million pesos, or 32 centavos per share.

As of April 29, US$1 was equivalent to 15.17 Mexican pesos.
