Square names CFO

Square Inc. named Amrita Ahuja as CFO.

Ahuja is replacing longtime CFO Sarah Friar, who announced in October 2018 that she would leave to become CEO of Inc., a private social network platform for neighborhoods. Square's stock plunged close to 20% following the news of Friar's departure, before recovering slightly, in what Nomura Instinet analyst Dan Dolev had called an "overblown reaction" in an interview following the announcement. Dolev said it was likely due in part to Friar's prominent role in face-to-face meetings with investors.

On the company's November 2018 earnings call, Chairman, President and CEO Jack Dorsey said filling the role was his No. 1 focus.

Ahuja is currently the CFO of Blizzard Entertainment Inc., a division of Activision Blizzard Inc. She has also held various roles at Fox Networks Group, the Walt Disney Co. and Morgan Stanley.
