Pan American Silver Corp. said May 9 that operations at its Huaron silver mine in Peru are expected to resume within the next 48 hours as road blockades that halted site activities ended.
The company was forced to stop activities at the mine April 24 after members of the nearby Huayllay community erected road blockades, demanding compensation for alleged impacts to community land as well as additional service contracts for construction work, haulage and material supply to the mine.
Pan American said it reached an agreement with representatives of the Huayllay community but did not disclose further details on the agreement.
