Ansys, Inc. said its normalized net income for the first quarter amounted to 55 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 77 cents per share.
EPS climbed 5.5% year over year from 53 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $51.0 million, an increase from $49.8 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 23.4% from 23.2% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose year over year to $217.8 million from $215.3 million, and total operating expenses climbed on an annual basis to $137.4 million from $135.9 million.
Reported net income declined from the prior-year period to $56.2 million, or 61 cents per share, from $57.0 million, or 60 cents per share.
