Amerigroup Iowa to accept new members of state's Medicaid program

Amerigroup Iowa has notified the Iowa Department of Human Services that it has the capacity to accept new members of the state's Medicaid program, IA Health Link.

New IA Health Link members will be able to choose Amerigroup Iowa as their managed care organization starting May 1. Additionally, members who temporarily transitioned to fee-for-service will begin coverage with Amerigroup Iowa on March 1.

In 2017, Amerigroup announced that it could not take on new Medicaid patients after AmeriHealth Caritas decided to withdraw from the program amid a contract dispute, The Kansas City Star reported.
