Enel Green Power starts construction of 382-MW solar project in Chile

Enel Green Power Chile started construction of the 382-MW Campos del Sol solar photovoltaic project in Chile with a total investment of about $320 million.

The facility is expected to produce approximately 1,160 GWh of energy annually upon reaching full operations by the end of 2020, according to an Aug. 26 news release.

As part of the development process, the Enel SpA subsidiary is in talks with five local indigenous Colla communities to identify impact mitigation and how to maximize value for those communities.

The company has about 7,500 MW of installed capacity in Chile, of which more than 3,500 MW is hydro, over 600 MW is wind, 500 MW is solar and approximately 40 MW is geothermal. In 2018, Enel sold about 23.2 TWh of electricity in Chile.
