Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc has responded to a Financial Conduct Authority request for information on allegations of its involvement in a global money-laundering scheme and is in the process of answering other regulatory authorities, Reuters reported March 27.
British legislators earlier in March asked the FCA to look into claims U.K. banks, including RBS, HSBC Holdings Plc and Standard Chartered Plc, failed to turn away money transfers linked to a $22.3 billion scheme to launder money through Moldova using Russian shell companies, Reuters said.
