GE Renewable secures contracts for wind projects in Sweden, Spain

GE Renewable Energy secured a contract to deliver turbines for the 175-MW Björkvattnet wind project in Sweden.

GE Renewable will supply 33 turbines as part of a contract that also includes a 25-year full service agreement, according to a Sept. 11 news release.

French infrastructure investor InfraVia Capital Partners acquired the project from Vindparken, WindSpace and GE Renewable.

Once the project begins operations by the end of 2020, it is expected to help Sweden reach its goal to become fossil fuel-free by 2040.

Separately, the General Electric Co. subsidiary inked an agreement with Danish asset manager Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners K/S to provide its technology and services capabilities for the 113-MW first phase of the Monegros onshore wind project in Aragon, Spain.

The Monegros portfolio is comprised of nine wind projects distributed within two clusters with a total of 60 turbines, according to a Sept. 11 release.

The company added that the blades will be manufactured at GE's LM Wind Power sites in Spain.
