European companies pledge renewed commitment to green bonds

Nine of Europe's largest industrial issuers of green bonds pledged Dec. 11 to "double down" on the issuance of such securities and urge other industrial corporations to consider issuing green bonds.

The signatories, including EDF Group, Enel SpA, ENGIE SA, Iberdrola SA, Icade, Paprec, SNCF Réseau, SSE plc and TenneT, pledged a long-term presence in the green bond market and to implement strict reporting processes.

The nine companies have issued a total of €26 billion in green bonds so far, according to a news release, which they said accounts for over 10% of total outstanding green bonds.

The companies made the announcement the morning of Climate Finance Day and the day before the One Planet Summit in Paris.
