France's Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices slowed to 1.1% year over year in September from 1.3% in August and 2.5% in the year-ago period, according to preliminary figures from the country's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies, or Insee.
The index, as defined by European Union methodology, declined 0.4% month over month after a 0.5% rise in August.
The estimated change is the result of slowing energy and food prices, offset by increases in other segments, such as services, the institute reported.
