Automaker Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. said moving production of its Discovery SUV to Slovakia could lead to jobs cuts in the U.K., Reuters reported.
"The potential losses of some agency employed staff in the UK is a tough one but forms part of our long-term manufacturing strategy as we transform our business globally," the company said in a statement quoted by the newswire.
Jaguar Land Rover CFO Ken Gregor said in 2017 that the move would save the company thousands of pounds per vehicle.
Bloomberg reported in April that the company would cut 1,000 jobs, mostly at its Solihull plant near Birmingham, England, which produces Range Rovers and the Discovery.
Jaguar Land Rover is a unit of Tata Motors Ltd.
