Compass Point downgrades GreenSky after Q3 earnings

Compass Point Research & Trading LLC analyst Michael Tarkan downgraded GreenSky Inc. to "neutral" from "buy" and reduced the price target to $11 from $22, after third-quarter financial results.

The analyst lowered GreenSky's earnings per share estimates for 2018, 2019 and 2020, to 57 cents, 70 cents and 95 cents, respectively, from 66 cents, 90 cents and $1.10.

The downgrade reflects, in part, the analyst's concern about "management's ability to pass through higher bank yields to its merchant and borrower base as a result of rising rates and eventually higher credit costs." The risk profile of the earning stream of the company, showing an upward trend with increased reliance on incentive fees, also contributes to the rating change, among other factors.
