Signify inks 10-year power supply contract with Polish wind farm

Lighting company Signify NV plans to power its operations in Poland from the Green Investment Group Ltd.'s Kisielice onshore wind farm, after signing a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement.

Macquarie Group Ltd.'s GIG acquired the 42-MW wind farm, located north of Warsaw, in August. Kisielice started operating in 2014, according to an Oct. 2 news release.

"This [virtual power purchase agreement] is a major milestone on our journey to become carbon neutral in 2020," said Nicola Kimm, head of sustainability, environment, health and safety at Signify. "It's crucial for our transition to 100 per cent renewable electricity next year, as well as supporting Poland's energy transition."
