Walmart supplier recalls popcorn over undeclared fish

Honolulu-based Samurai Inc. is recalling 16,660 packages of Furikake Popcorn due to undeclared fish, which may cause allergic reactions among consumers.

According to an Oct. 14 notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall includes five-ounce packages with best-by dates of Oct. 30, 2019; Nov. 15, 2019; Nov. 30, 2019; and Dec. 15, 2019.

The affected products were distributed to retailers in Hawaii including Walmart Inc.

The recall was issued after a product containing fish was distributed in packaging that did not disclose the presence of the allergen. No illnesses have been reported so far, according to the FDA.

The company is urging consumers who have the affected products to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
