Garmin partners with Daimler for smartwatch integration

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd., said it teamed up with Daimler AG to introduce its smartwatch to Mercedes-Benz vehicle owners.

The communications equipment maker will unveil a Mercedes-Benz branded version of its vívoactive 3 GPS smartwatch, which will be available globally through the automaker's dealerships in March.

Mercedes-Benz vehicle owners can monitor their stress levels and heart rate using the smartwatch when it is connected to the Mercedes me mobile application.

Using the data compiled from the smartwatch, the integrated car system will give customized recommendations to drivers to help improve their well-being, including soothing music, climate control and seat massages.

Mercedes-Benz is owned by German automaker Daimler.
