The Vermont Public Power Supply Authority is collaborating with Encore Renewable Energy of Burlington, Vt., to develop approximately 10 MW of solar projects.
The solar projects will be built in at least three of VPPSA's member utility territories, according to a company news release. VPPSA and Encore may also look for additional development sites in other member service territories.
The proposed solar arrays are expected to generate enough power for 1,900 homes yearly and to help VPPSA members in meeting their renewable energy standard requirements.
Encore won a competitive solicitation to provide its services to VPPSA. Under the agreement, Encore will design, develop, finance and construct the solar projects, while VPPSA will assist in identifying host communities that will manage the produced power.
VPPSA provides wholesale power supply to a dozen municipal and cooperative utility members.
