Great Western splits CEO, president roles

Great Western Bancorp Inc. and subsidiary Great Western Bank will separate the duties of president and CEO.

Ken Karels will keep the chairman and CEO titles at both the Sioux Falls, S.D.-based parent company and its bank.

The decision to split the roles was attributed to the entities' growth. The board is conducting a nationwide search for its next president; the transition is expected to occur by the end of 2018.
