National Grid issues power request for proposals

National Grid USA launched a request for proposals, or RFP, soliciting power suppliers to meet the utility's Standard Offer Service requirements for residential, commercial and industrial groups in Rhode Island.

During the terms of service covered by the RFP, National Grid intends to establish retail rates for generation service for Standard Offer Service customers in Rhode Island. Those rates will reflect National Grid's purchase costs for such service, according to the RFP.

To participate in the RFP, the respondents need to provide National Grid with their background and financial information by 5 p.m. ET on June 23. Upon receipt, respondents should submit their indicative pricing by 10 a.m. ET on July 5, and final pricing proposals are due by 10 a.m. ET on July 12.

The RFP manager is James Ruebenacker, who can be reached by email at

National Grid USA is known legally as Narragansett Electric Co.
