Kering's Bottega Veneta names new creative director

French luxury goods group Kering SA said June 15 that it has appointed British designer Daniel Lee to be the new creative director of its Bottega Veneta brand, effective July 1.

Lee will replace Tomas Maier, who parted ways with the Italian leather goods and fashion label earlier in the week.

Lee most recently served as director of ready-to-wear design at LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE's French label Céline, where he had worked since 2012. He was also previously with brands including Maison Margiela, G-III Apparel Group's Donna Karan and Kering's Balenciaga.

Bottega Veneta CEO Claus Dietrich Lahrs said in a statement: "Daniel Lee has a deep understanding of the house's current challenges both in terms of creation and development," adding that he expects the designer to bring a "new and distinctive creative language" to the brand.
