The Canadian International Trade Tribunal said May 28 it had launched a preliminary dumping probe into certain types of steel imported from China, South Korea and Vietnam.
The tribunal will investigate whether the alleged dumping and subsidization of "cold-reduced flat-rolled sheet products of carbon steel" from the three countries have harmed Canada's steel industry.
The move comes days after the U.S. Department of Commerce levied import duties on steel products from Vietnam that originated in China after findings showed Vietnam "circumvented" anti-dumping and anti-subsidy orders.
The Canadian tribunal will determine the results of the investigation on July 24 and will provide the reason for the same on Aug. 8.
