Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.'s global production declined by 0.5% year over year to 442,065 vehicles in April.
Production in Japan rose by 9.5% to 77,488 vehicles. Production outside Japan decreased by 2.4%. There were increases in production the U.K. and Spain, while output declined in the U.S. and Mexico.
Global sales declined by 4.2% to 391,418 vehicles. Sales in the U.S. and Mexico dipped sharply while sales numbers in China, Canada and Russia showed significant increases. Sales outside Japan fell by 4.6% for the month.
Exports from Japan jumped by 22.1% to 52,388 vehicles. Exports to Europe declined by 1% while exports to North America and other regions surged up by 28.0% and 24.6%, respectively.
For the period between January 2018 and April 2018, global production decreased by 3.7% to 1,839,155 vehicles. Production outside Japan was down by 2.8% to 1,508,681. Global sales for the period decreased by 2.2% to 1,887,890. Sales outside Japan fell by 2.1% to 1,645,177 vehicles during the period.
