Japan real wages unchanged in April

Japanese workers' real wages in April remained unchanged from the same period in 2017, Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare data showed.

This followed a revised 0.7% annual rise in real wages in March, which marked the first increase in four months amid lower core inflation and the Bank of Japan's lowered inflation forecast for 2018.

Total cash earnings rose 0.8% year over year in April, slower than a revised 2.0% annual gain in March.

Contractual cash earnings grew 1.2% year over year in April, matching the annual growth in the prior month.
